Every East End building permit filed in the last 30 days that names a business, in one spreadsheet, rebuilt every Monday — plus a 90-day roll-up of which firms are actually busy right now. Public permit record only: business names, site addresses, permit types and work classes. No owner names, no contact details, no valuation data.

What you get

Two CSVs, rebuilt every Monday from East Hampton Town and Southampton Town public permit records.

Contractor leads — one row per business contractor per permit, for the trailing 30 days, newest first. Filing date, town, hamlet, site address, permit number, permit type, work class, scope of work, the contractor's name, how many permits that contractor has filed in the last 12 months and all time, when they first appear in the record, and a link straight to the street page and the contractor profile on this site.

Supplier targets — one row per business contractor for the trailing 90 days: permits filed, towns and hamlets worked, dominant work types, most recent filing and profile link. This is the who is busy right now list — the one a yard, a distributor or a sub reads.

Every column

The 90-day supplier file carries contractor, permits_90d, permits_12mo, permits_all_time, towns, hamlets, dominant_work_types, most_recent_permit_date, most_recent_permit_type, most_recent_hamlet, first_seen and contractor_profile_url. The first line of each file is a comment carrying the build date, the window and the coverage caveat; the header is line two.

Also on file: every licensed contractor in Southampton Town

A separate dataset, harvested from the Town of Southampton's own licence registry and refreshed every Monday: 10,209 licensed contractors, of which 2,136 hold a licence that is current today. Business name, town licence number, expiry date and status.

This is a directory, not a lead list, and it does not join to the permits. Southampton publishes its licence registry and its permit records through the same search page but keeps them in separate tables: no permit record in the town's public data carries a contractor name, a licence number or any id pointing at one, and the licence registry carries no permit reference back. So this tells you who is licensed to work in the town, not who pulled which permit — and we will not manufacture the link by matching names, because a guess dressed as a record is worse than a gap. The trade column is derived from the business name; the town records no trade or licence class. Electricians and plumbers are licensed by Suffolk County rather than the town, so they are largely absent here by design. 8,775 of the 10,209 entries clear the business-name classifier and can be named; a licence held in a private individual's own name is dropped, not anonymised, and the named licensee behind every business is never published.

What the file will not do, and we would rather say it first

Roughly 11% of permit records carry an applicant name at all, and the name is the filer — usually the builder or developer, sometimes an expediter. So this is a floor, not a census of who is working out here. Southampton's applicant data is historical (it thins out after the 1990s) and its current feed carries no contractor field, so today's rows are East Hampton. East Hampton returns no scope text, so work_description is usually empty. Neither town publishes a declared job value, so there is no dollar column and we will not invent one. Of the whole record, 1,284 rows (0.8% of 158,727) name a business rather than a private individual or nobody at all — that smaller number, not the 11%, is the one this file is drawn from.

No owner names, ever. No owner phone numbers or email addresses — the source systems expose some of those and nothing we publish or sell carries them. No private individuals' names: of 13,867 distinct applicant strings in the record, 840 qualify as businesses and 13,027 are excluded as private people. And no third-party valuation or property-attribute data — everything in the file is a town public record, which is exactly why we can license it.
